I am finally back to writing here on the blog after more than a year away.

I am back and I wanted to share with you some of the projects that I worked in 2013.

The first one I am sharing is my son’s 1st birthday. Yes, we had another baby, a baby boy that keeps bringing joy to our lives everyday.

This party was by far my favorite! I had so much fun planning it and bringing it to life (in just 3 weeks). My husband had asked me to do a Noah’s Ark theme and I loved the idea. Once¬†I knew the theme I started to plan it but wanted to do the Ark my way ūüôā

Our baby is such a fun boy, and he loves his toys, his food and Sophie (his teething Giraffe). Based on that I decided to create his ark, with the things he loves.  And if you know me and my designs you already noticed that all my parties are a reflection of the invitation I create for such event. This one was no different. Here is the invitation I created for the party:

And from there the party took shape…¬†

It is hard to tell you my favorite detail as I loved everything about how it all turned out.

We had in our backyard and the poles from the rented tent were the frame for the rainbow background I created using yarn. There was a lot of DIY projects for this party.

We had a naked cake (or almost naked) by Dona Doce Cakes as the centerpiece of the cake table and his name was used throughout.

A friend of ours used his carpenter skills and made the Ark that I used as the centerpiece for the favor/dessert table.

We had cars, trains and giraffes cake pops (amazingly delicious) by Cake Pops by Xpressive Designs.

Lots of candy and bonbons as part¬†of our Brazilian tradition, and of course, my latest obsession: MINI TO GO CONTAINERS! They were personalized with Noah’s name and inside I baked my favorite Orange Cake (recipe here).

I want to thank everyone that made this afternoon so enjoyable:

The amazing pictures (aside from the invitation that  I took with my phone) were by the ever talented Renata Rivera.

A huge thank you to my husband for supporting me ( and my out of the box ideas :P), to my mom and mother in law that were a huge help, and to the amazing Neide Lima, from GIF Floral and Events Designs, for bringing her talent and her friendship all the way from Orlando. To my dear friend Luciana from  Arts and Glamour Events and her husband for creating the Ark, and all the help and patience with me :).

Hope you enjoy the pics!

Hi there everyone!

I know, I know….this blog says “oh baby boy” but is being a while since something¬†boyish came this way, right?! But today, oh today .. today is a new day!

I want to share with you the cutest construction themed party ever!

I received¬†an email from my¬†friend Camila, she lives in Canada and like me is a brazilian momma trying to raise a boy in this world that’s being dominated by girly things (have you been shopping for boys latelly???NO OPTIONS!) and she came up with this cute party for her son’s 2nd birthday.

She is one talented momma! When she sent me the invitation I couldn’t wait for the party! Not only do I love the logo she created¬†and carried it out¬†throughout¬†the party¬†but¬†also that she did everything¬†herself with¬† help from her sister that flew in from Brazil and her husband.

Here is what she had to say about the party: ” We decided to have his party on Sunday Easter, and even thou a lot of people couldn’t make it was great for people like us that don’t have any family here in Canada to spend some time together.

I decided to do a construction theme party and used the orange, yellow and blue and it was the first party I did for him Рlast year we  had a picnic at a nearby park with the grandparents that came to visit.

The major problem we were having was the weather, and until the last-minute it was supposed to rain, so I had all the activities for the kids set up in the basement. But the big day came and the sun decided to show up, we had a great weather and were able to bring¬†the activities to the backyard. We¬†had a bounce house,¬† a toddler playground ( it was Pedro’s gift) and a lot of activities for the kids – coloring pages with the party theme, sidewalk chalk, decorate your own “hard hat”, there was also a ¬†house that I made out of paperboard with a “Can you fix it” sign. The kids had a blast!

Now, I did all the planning, designing and arranging by myself with the help of my sister and my husband.¬† I made each kid a “hard hat”, also designed all the paper good, like the labels for the food , the water label, and all the other signs I used on the party.

I used a very cute fabric and did the sign with the birthday boy’s name ( I used picture frames that i got at my local dollar store and painted them yellow). I used the same fabric to make the birthday boy’s shirt, ¬†his tool belt and the kid’s favor bags

On the dessert¬†table¬† we had the cake ( it was actually a fake cake,¬† a glass bowl covered in icing and the cake stand was from my son’s room – his lamp shade),cupcakes ( real ones ūüôā ) , brazilian chocolate fudge¬† balls (brigadeiro) , dulce de leche served in cups, lemon mousse with nutella, cookies ¬†and brownies.

It was a lot of work but at the end I think it all¬†paid off. “

Oh boy, I love this!! If she didn’t tell me I could never say that cake wasn’t real

Good job Camila! The party look really good and the birthday boy ( and his shirt) is too cute!!

Can’t wait for next year ūüėČ

Happy Wednesday! And keep the boyish things coming people!!

A couple of weeks ago it was my hubby’s birthday and even thou he didn’t want me to do anything I just couldn’t help myself. I decided to have a dinner at our house to celebrate his last birthday before the big 3.O and he had so much fun.

I used earthy tones to decorate it because… well ¬†I thought it was more “manly” ūüôā

The menu had his favorite things. He loves Bacalhau¬†(Salted Cod Fish) so I made a very yummy recipe for him ( I ‚̧ him so much!!), we also had shrimp salad with asiago sticks, crab and spinach dip and salad.

The dessert¬†table was¬† SCRUMPTIOUS¬†and so chocolatey!! Besides the chocolate mousse cake we had coffee macarons, Brigadeiro¬†( brazilian chocolate fudge. A must in any party!) and strawberries with homemade cream and Nuttella ( it was everyone’s favorite).

On another note I wanted to thank everyone that supported the For Japan with Love cause. The donations surpassed the goal by 100%. Thank you!!! May God give you abundantly more!
